Mindstep join All Party Parliamentary Group

Mindstep were honoured to join the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Suicide and Self Harm Prevention, as part of the inquiry into young people and suicide.

The All-Party Group on Suicide and Self-harm Prevention aims to raise awareness within Parliament and encourage discussion and debate of all issues surrounding suicide and self-harm prevention.

This inquiry focusses on the experiences of young people from age 18 to 25, given the rising rates of suicide among this group, and seek to understand what should be done to prevent young suicides.

At the session, we joined MP's, experts and other advocates to discuss:

◻️ Risk factors for suicide and self-harm in young people
◻️ Importance of funding for suicide prevention and mental health research
◻️ Current support available and what more is needed
◻️ Focus of policy recommendations for suicide prevention
