Renewed partnership to fund suicide prevention research

Prof Rory O’Connor on the Mindstep partnership

Mindstep has renewed its partnership with the University of Glasgow to fund cutting-edge research into suicide prevention.

Having already supported research at the Suicidal Behaviour Research Laboratory with £100,000, Mindstep is contributing an additional £50,000 over the next two years to continue advancing our understanding of suicidal thoughts and behaviors.

The renewed funding will support research exploring a range of critical themes, including:

  • Innovative interventions to reduce distress and support individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts.

  • Psychological and social factors that contribute to suicidal ideation and risk.

  • Strategies to enhance resilience, wellbeing, and protective factors for vulnerable populations.

  • Collaboration and knowledge-sharing among early and mid-career researchers focused on suicide and self-harm.

This partnership allows the University of Glasgow to continue pioneering work that informs evidence-based approaches to suicide prevention and mental health support.
